Encapsulation allows the sharing of the Internet Protocol Suite into common functions. Internet Protocol Suite has four layers: the Application Layer, Transport Layer, the Internet Layer, and Data Link Layer. This model is not rigid; the new protocol must match in order to be recognized as a standard.
The Application Layer is the topmost layer of the Internet Protocol Suite. It consists of all the methods and processes which are necessary to process the communication process through the network internet protocol.
The Transport Layer is responsible for providing communications services, such as support for connection-oriented data streams, multiplexing, flow control, and reliability.
Internet Layer is a protocol that transmits a group of data packets from the originating host to a destination device via the network. It performs three basic operations.
Data Link Layer is the lowest layer in the Internet Protocol Suite. It consists of methods that operate on the physical link. Address Resolution Protocol core methods, Neighbor Discovery Protocol, Reverse Address Resolution Protocol, etc.
