Almost documentary-like natural movement of children is crystal-like in this movie. The story is about the life of four abandoned children in the middle of Tokyo, based on the true story, but there is not much a drama there - just the quiet love to their mother, unspoken desperation, and a little warmth of their faint smiles. The young actor, who played the eldest son, Yuya Yagira won the best actor award at Cannes in 2004, the youngest (then 14) winner in its history.
