Born to the Kabuki family but not is excluded from her family business (as women are not allowed in Kabuki), Shinobu Terajima spent most of her 20's working on live theater acts, searching for her identity. Her first movie "Akame 48 Waterfalls" in 2003, which she starred despite of her mother's (movie actress Junko Fuji) firm opposition, became her breakthrough, and she won Japan Academy Award with it, as well as may other fil awards. With her strong acting skills, she is curretnly one of the most popular and stable actress.
