Rie Miyazawa started as a child model at the age of 11, and in 1987, her
popularity exploded when she appeared in a TV commercial. Her film debut
was on 1988, with "Seven Day's War", where she played the main
role in her first movie. She obtained the "national pretty girl"
status and appeared in many TV dramas and movies since then.
As she matures, she has established the fame as an actress. In 2001, she
starred in a Hong Kong movie "Peony Pavilion", and won the best
actress award in Moscow International Film Festival. In the same year,
with "The Twilight Samurai", she swept all the major movie awards
in Japan, including Japan Academy Awards. Other recent major work include
"The Face of Jizo" and "Tony Takitani" (2004), and
her most recent movie is "Ashura Jo no Hitomi" (2005).
