Born on January 12, 1976, Miki Natani started to work as a singer in 1991,
but switched to acting in 1993 in TV dramas, V cinemas (straight-to-DVD
movies) and TV commercials. In 1999, she played the first leading role
in a detective story "Keizoku" both as TV dramas and feature
movies, and etablished the position as the leading actress. Since 2003,
Nakatani has been focusing on movies, and played important supporting roles
in such hit films as "When the Last Sword is Drawn" and "Train
Man - Densha Otoko". When she played the heroin of "Memories
of Matsuko", her clash with director Tetuya Nakashima was widely publicized,
but she reveals this role was so important for her and the experience helped
her a lot.
Nakatani is nominated in the Best Leading Actress category in 2007 Japan
Academy Awards.
