Koyuki started as a reader-model of "non-no" magazine in 1995, becoming a professional model two years later. She then moved on to TV in 1998, appearing in various TV dramas and commercials.

Her first movie was "Keizoku" by Yukihiko Tsutsumi in 2000. Other movies she acted in include "Kairo"(2001), "Laundry:" (2002), "Spy Sorge" and "Alive" (2003). In 2003, she became known to the international audience by "The Last Samurai". And in 2006, Koyuki was nominated in the best leading actress category with "Always - Sunset on Third Street" in Japan Academy Awards.
