Junji Sakamoto is known for his skill to express human dramas in various
types of settings. His debut film as director "Knockout" won
many awards including Ministry of Education New Director Award in 1989
and made strong impression in the industry. His most known movie so far
is "Face" ("Kao") in 2000, a story of a woman's hidaway
who murdered her sister, and he won the Best Director of Japan Academy
Award for this movie. He has expanded his horizon to different genres in
recent years, such as political action "KT" (2002), filmization
of a comic book "My House" (2003), and the recently-released
military-action spectacle "Aegis" (2005).
